Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Interventional Radiology nursing team at Colchester General Hospital.

About the role

The Interventional Radiology team is a small and friendly multidisciplinary group consisting of nurses, radiographers and consultant radiologists. The core working hours are Monday‑Friday, 08:00‑18:00 and, once trained, you will participate in a 24/7 on‑call rota (1 in 5). When on call, you must be able to reach the hospital within 45 minutes of being called.

The role is for a nurse interested in developing specialised skills such as scrub, conscious sedation and participation in a cross‑site on‑call service. Experience is welcome but not essential, as full on‑the‑job training will be provided.

Responsibilities
  • Provide a high standard of patient care in the radiology setting.
  • Act as a team leader in the absence of a senior staff member.
  • Assist radiology staff to develop and enhance clinical skills and practice.
  • Work in a variety of clinical areas, including vascular theatre, alongside multidisciplinary team members.
  • Maintain good communication and organisational abilities, upholding excellent clinical standards.
Working Hours
  • Full time, 37.5 hours per week; minimum 30 hours per week accepted.
  • Monday – Friday, 08:00 – 18:00 core hours.
  • 24/7 on‑call rota (1 in 5) after training.
