Job description

We are looking for a Forecourt Retail Operations IT Manager to take ownership of our POS and back-office retail systems across the UK estate. In this role, you will act as the key operational liaison with system suppliers, overseeing developments, upgrades, and enhancements to ensure they meet business and operational requirements.

You will be responsible for maintaining system integrity, performance, and governance, as well as supporting stores during rollouts, upgrades, and operational changes. This role also involves monitoring system performance, driving continuous improvement, and staying up-to-date with forecourt retail technology trends.

What you’ll do:
  • Own and maintain the integrity, configuration, and performance of forecourt retail and POS/BOS systems across the UK estate.
  • Act as the primary operational liaison with the POS supplier, overseeing system developments, enhancements, defect resolution, and roadmap alignment.
  • Review, approve, and govern system updates, ensuring changes are appropriately assessed, tested, and fit for operational use before release.
  • Oversee system testing activities, including test planning, coordination, validation, and sign-off to ensure changes meet business and operational requirements.
  • Ensure effective support and enablement of stores during system rollouts, upgrades, and operational changes.
  • Work closely with Buying, Retail Operations, Finance, Field Operation Teams and external partners to ensure the forecourt retail systems align with business objectives and compliance requirements.
  • Maintain governance over system documentation, processes, and controls related to forecourt retail operations.
  • Pro-actively Monitor system performance and operational feedback, driving continuous improvement and risk mitigation.
  • Stay informed of industry trends, regulatory changes, and advancements in forecourt retail technology.

  • Proven experience in retail or forecourt operations management, with strong knowledge of POS and PFS retail systems, including functionality, pricing, promotions, and site-level controls.
  • Demonstrated experience managing third-party technology suppliers, including oversight of system development, issue resolution, and delivery timelines.
  • Experience overseeing system change and release management, including requirements definition, testing coordination, validation, and approval of updates.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to manage complex operational and technical issues.
