Location: Edinburgh (Pentlandfield Business Park) or Glasgow (80 St Vincent Street) with travel to sites, as required.

The Company

Green Cat Hydrogen Limited (GCH) is a dynamic and innovative green hydrogen project developer. GCH focuses on the deployment of electrolytic hydrogen projects as a key part of the global energy transition and UK’s de-carbonisation strategy. The business works closely with sister companies through the planning, permitting/licensing, engineering and design and construction of green hydrogen projects. GCH aims to support the growth of the Hydrogen Industry as a whole, helping potential Hydrogen Offtakers in assessing the suitability of Hydrogen to meet their needs, and where required, understanding the requirements for and impacts of Hydrogen fuel utilisation at their sites.

We are seeking a motivated and talented Legal Counsel with a commercial and project finance background to support the development and construction of GCH’s project pipeline. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues across the wider GCH team, its investors and partners in the Hydrogen or and wider renewables sector in a varied and dynamic role.

The Role
  • Lead the drafting, review, negotiation, and management of major project contracts, including land, grid, OEM, BOP, EPC, PPAs, hydrogen offtake, O&M, transport, and JV/shareholder agreements.
  • Provide legal and commercial advice across project development, procurement, financing, and delivery, ensuring compliance with regulation, project milestones, and funding requirements.
  • Act as primary legal contact for external stakeholders (regulators, external legal counsel, service providers, landowners, JV partners).
  • Monitor and advise on legal and regulatory developments in the UK hydrogen and wider energy sectors.
  • Develop internal processes for legal risk management, governance, and contract templates, inclusive of compliance.
  • Manage external legal advisers.
  • Support senior leadership as a trusted legal and commercial adviser.

Candidate Profile
Qualifications & Experience
  • Qualified solicitor in Scotland with 7+ years PQE.
  • Proven experience in energy, renewables, or infrastructure, ideally on development-stage projects.
  • Strong track record in drafting and negotiating complex commercial and project agreements.
  • Developer-side experience preferred.
  • Comfortable operating as the sole in-house legal resource in a growing business.
  • UK driving licence and willingness to travel.
