About Phyllis Court Club
Phyllis Court is a private members club located in a grand riverside manor on 18 acres of land with hotel rooms on the River Thames in Henley. It offers spectacular views of the river and countryside, superb facilities, cuisine and wines, relaxinig riverside accommodation and a friendly staff. The highlight of the year is the annual Henley Regatta.
The Role
You will oversee all aspects of the Housekeeping operation across the Club and Fitness Centre, supervising a team of Housekeeping Assistants and ensuring that standards of cleanliness are met. You will have line‑management responsibilities, including scheduling, training, development, probation and one‑to‑one review meetings, and rewarding outstanding performance. Responsibilities
- Deliver an exceptional experience to our Members, promoting loyalty and repeat visits.
- Ensure Members and লোকs receive prompt, accurate service and that all requests are dealt with efficiently and courteously.
- Organise the daily work of the department, including rosters and administration.
- Collaborate with wider teams and support other departments to ensure a smooth, efficient service and a One Team ethos.
- Supervise and hold day‑to‑day accountability for the department, focusing on cleanliness, cost saving and economy.
- Conduct daily checks on all areas of the Club, including the Fitness Centre, Clubhouse, Pavilion, bedrooms, public bathrooms and offices.
- Ensure all cleaning equipment is fit for purpose, well maintained and that staff are trained on its safe use.
- Resolve internal departmental problems quickly and effectively, seeking assistance from the Housekeeping Manager as required.
- Handle Member complaints and comments positively, escalating when necessary.
- Maintain reports and act on required actions.
- Implement and maintain SOPs, training staff to the required standard.
- Provide ongoing on‑the‑job training and document it.
- Ensure Housekeeping Assistants comply with uniform, grooming and behaviour standards.
- Stay update on health & safety, hygiene, and fire training, ensuring a safe environment.
- Meet regularly with the Housekeeping Manager to discuss departmental status.
- Attend weekly operations meetings and contribute to operational standards.
- Cover Duty Manager shifts on a rotational basis.
- Report incidents and accidents via Alert65.
- Undertake any لين duties requested by the Housekeeping Manager or Management Team.
- Ensure all duties are completed within our Customer Service values at all times.
Essential Qualifications
- Experience working in Housekeeping within hospitality or a private Members Club.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with Members, Guests and staff.
- A passion for customer service and maintaining high standards at all times.
- Strong people‑management skills, setting objectives and leading by example.
- Capability with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
- Good time‑management, prioritisation and negotiation skills.
- Problem‑solving ability, proactive in resolving Member/Guest or team‑member issues.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Highly organised, proactive, able to lead others and take direction.
Desirable
- Experience using a room booking or management system (e.g., Room Master).
- Previous line‑management experience (scheduling, reviews, etc.).
- Prior supervisory or team‑management experience.
