Title: HGV Class 2 Driver / Drainage Engineer
Location: Irene House, Unit 7 Wyvern Way, Henwood Industrial Estate, Ashford, Kent, TN24 8DW
Reporting Manager: Depot Manager
Hours: Monday - Friday 06:00 am – 04:00 pm (50 hour week)
Salary: £12.60 ph / £32,760 basic annually; overtime paid time and a half (£18.90 ph); night work bonus £45; call‑out bonus £30 on weekdays, £45 on weekends

Principal Duties and Accountabilities
- Being flexible and undertaking ad‑hoc duties when the vehicle is off the road or assisting other field teams
Roles and Responsibilities
- Collection and disposal of controlled waste at registered waste reception sites
- Drive and operate specialist tankers
- Attend emergency call‑outs for sewer blockages, flooding and pollution
- Work on private and public land in strict accordance with statutory health, safety and environmental procedures
- Undertake vehicle checks at the start and finish of each shift
- Ensure all jobs are documented correctly
- Report all defects, accidents and near‑misses immediately to the line manager
- Maintain a driver’s log book in compliance with MOT rules and procedures
- Keep PPE in fit‑for‑purpose condition
- Keep the vehicle and equipment washed down weekly, free from rubbish in hoses, tool boxes and the cab
- Attend training as and when required
Health & Safety Responsibilities
- Interpret and comply with company health & safety policy
- Promote a positive health and safety culture; lead by example
- Ensure all works are carried out safely and in accordance with legislative, company requirements and RAMS
- Complete all required health and safety site documentation
- Read and understand company health and safety documentation on tablets
- Carry out VPRs and DRAs for every job, updating as required
- Report all health, safety and environmental incidents to the line manager within 2 hours of occurrence
Qualifications / Competency
- HGV Class 1/2 driving licence
- ADR licence (desired)
- Ability to work within controlled guidelines and environmental regulations
- Polite and friendly public interaction
- Work with minimal supervision and receive remote instructions
- Previous liquid waste work experience in water utility / environmental services sector desirable; safe street‑work knowledge preferred
- NRSWA Unit 2 (desired)
- High‑pressure water jetting (desired)
- Emergency First Aid (in‑house training provided)
- First Aid at Work (in‑house training provided)
- Manual Handling (in‑house training provided)
- Asbestos awareness (UKATA)
