HGV Class 1 Driver – Royal Mail Christmas Task Force

Pertemps is working with Royal Mail to recruit HGV Class 1 Drivers for its Christmas Task Force, offering unmatched benefits such as paid mileage from home, full hotel accommodation with meals, weekly subsistence, and a lucrative completion payment. Candidates must be willing to relocate for a minimum of 6 weeks to help deliver the forthcoming busy Christmas period.

LGV Class 1 Drivers will be required to trunk both mail and parcels around the Royal Mail network. You will be working to tight schedules, with measured and monitored running times whilst maintaining the highest levels of safety throughout.

This is a vital role within Royal Mail and all Drivers are required to be flexible to work all requested shifts within contract duration.

Project details

• Start around 15th/22nd November 2025 and run through until January 2026.
• Project duration minimum 4 weeks, maximum 8 weeks (will be discussed prior to acceptance).

Benefits

• A rota based on any 5 out of 7 days with a minimum of 8 hours daily.
• A 6th shift will be available wherever legal to complete.
• Mileage paid from home address (within Scotland, Wales, and England only) to and from the allocated hotel at 45pence per mile per return trip.
• Block‑booked paid hotel accommodation, including breakfast and one meal per day.
• £15 per day subsistence payment (weekly £105).
• Weekly relocation payment accrued and paid at end of assignment for each full week (5 shifts per week) attended, paid £240 per week (paid in lump sum at end of project).
• Holiday accrual.
• PAYE pay rates from £20.82 to £23.85 per hour (dependent on location – National or Outer London).

Qualifications

• Current CPC and Digital Tachograph cards.
• A full UK driving licence.
• Held a LGV Class 1 licence for 12 months.
• Maximum 6 penalty points.
• No endorsements: IN, DD, CD or DR (for insurance purposes).
• Only PAYE drivers accepted; limited company or umbrella not accepted.
