Job summary

A leading construction and engineering firm in the United Kingdom is seeking a Health & Safety professional who will provide advice and coaching to Project Teams during the construction of large-diameter water pipelines. The role primarily involves ensuring compliance, conducting site inspections, delivering safety training, and participating in investigation activities. Candidates should have a NEBOSH Construction Certificate and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels. A full UK Driving Licence is also required.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a relevant field of Construction / Utilities required.
  • CSCS Safety Professional card is necessary.
  • Working towards chartered membership of IOSH – CMIOSH is a plus.
  • Full UK Driving Licence required.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct H&S site visits including inspections and advisory visits.
  • Attend project rehearsals and fit-for-assembly meetings for H&S advice.
  • Conduct incident investigations as the main investigator or in a team.
  • Deliver AW passport to work, LIFE orientations, and SMS training.

Job description
Overview

The Anglian Water Strategic Pipeline Alliance (SPA) project involves the planning, design and construction of approximately 320km of new strategic, large‑diameter, clean‑water interconnector pipelines and associated infrastructure across Anglian Water’s region. The SPA Alliance is also responsible for future interconnector pipelines, a further 260km of strategic interconnector pipelines and associated infrastructure.

Role Highlights

Provide Health & Safety advice, guidance and coaching to Project Teams from pre‑construction to handover and ensure compliance with the Strategic Alliance HSEMS. This requires completion of inspections, advisory visits, incident investigations, feedback and briefings to sites. The role is likely site‑based across the region 4 days per week, but have 2 days in the Peterborough office.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct H&S site visits, including inspections, advisory visits and engagement tours to ensure site compliance with Alliance HSEMS and record on M2i.
  • Attend project rehearsals and fit‑for‑assembly meetings as required to provide H&S advice before the project gets to site.
  • Conduct incident investigations, either as the main investigator or as part of an investigation team as required. This includes gathering evidence, interviewing and completing the investigation report as per the Alliance HSEMS/parent company.
  • Deliver or support the delivery of AW passport to work, LIFE orientations, SMS training or briefings to site or office staff as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Effective communicator with strong presentation and report writing skills.
  • People skills – ability to liaise with staff/operatives at all levels.
  • Analytical skills to interpret detailed information and regulations.
  • Excellent use of MS Office – Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
