Become a Health & Safety Coordinator

Through meticulous health and safety management and effective stakeholder engagement, you will drive the successful implementation of safety initiatives across the UK and Ireland. By ensuring a safe and secure environment, you will enable our colleagues to focus on inspiring even more people to read, learn, create, and play. Your dedication, determination, and expertise will have a direct impact on our business performance, playing a vital role in delivering our strategy.

Your Mission
  • Oversee health and safety processes, ensuring compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct risk assessments to identify potential hazards and implement measures to mitigate risks.
  • Manage health and safety incidents, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to align health and safety objectives and drive business success.
  • Develop and implement health and safety training programmes to enhance team capabilities and support safety initiatives.
  • Prepare and present health and safety reports, providing regular updates and insights to senior leadership.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness within the health and safety function.
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety legislation and best practices.
  • Work closely with the Health and Safety Manager, to support ongoing projects within the People team.
  • Communicate effectively with employees, regarding health and safety queries and processes.

  • Experience in managing health and safety incidents and ensuring timely resolution.

  • Excellent analytical skills to support decision-making and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Strong communication skills, including presenting to and influencing senior leadership.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with various departments and stakeholders.
