About Exance Services Limited

Exance is a fast-growing MGA, focused on delivering underwriting excellence across Construction, Property, Surety, and Financial Lines. Backed by strong investor support and strategic capacity partners, Exance is building a reputation as a high-quality, broker-centric business.

As part of our expansion, we are establishing Property as a new underwriting class. We are seeking a market-recognised leader to take ownership of this line, bringing capacity relationships and broker distribution to support immediate revenue growth and long-term profitability.

Role Purpose

The Head of Property will be responsible for building and leading Exance’s Property line of business. This role requires an individual with strong market standing, capacity they can bring to the table, and an established following of brokers prepared to support the launch of the class. The role combines leadership, underwriting, and business development responsibilities, with accountability for building a profitable Property portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and lead the Property class within Exance, establishing underwriting appetite, pricing strategy, and distribution plans.
  • Bring and secure capacity from insurers/reinsurers to underpin the Property portfolio, working closely with Exance leadership to structure agreements.
  • Leverage existing broker relationships to deliver immediate income distribution and support rapid growth of the Property book.
  • Develop, own, and deliver the Property business plan, ensuring profitability, compliance, and alignment with group strategy.
  • Recruit and mentor a team of underwriters to support growth in the Property class.
  • Collaborate with the wider leadership team to drive cross-selling opportunities between Property, Construction, Surety, and Financial Lines.
  • Ensure underwriting discipline, governance, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Represent Exance in the market as a thought leader and credible partner for brokers and capacity providers.

Skills & Experience

  • A recognised leader in the Property insurance market, with proven underwriting expertise and market influence.
  • Demonstrable ability to bring capacity to support a new MGA line.
  • Strong, loyal broker following with a track record of income distribution and portfolio growth.
  • Deep understanding of the UK and international Property markets, including pricing, risk selection, and reinsurance structures.
  • Experience building and scaling a profitable underwriting class from inception or significant growth phase.
  • Strong leadership skills – able to build, inspire, and manage an underwriting team.
  • Commercially astute with strong negotiation and relationship management skills.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and commitment to underwriting discipline.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary package (£150k–£225k) plus performance-related incentives and potential equity participation.
  • Opportunity to build and own a Property portfolio within a dynamic, growing MGA.
  • Direct influence over underwriting strategy and capacity partnerships.
  • Entrepreneurial, fast-paced environment with strong board-level backing.
  • Collaborative culture focused on broker relationships and long-term growth.
