To join our team in August 2026, we are looking for a well-qualified and talented Head of Modern Foreign Languages (Spanish and French) to lead and teach in our MFL department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the Modern Foreign Languages department, ensuring high-quality instruction in Spanish and French.
  • Deliver engaging and effective instruction aligned with the IB Diploma Programme (IBDP) and other international curricula.
  • Plan and execute dynamic lessons that cater to diverse learning needs, incorporating modern teaching strategies and technology.
  • Monitor student progress through formative and summative assessments, ensuring high academic standards.
  • Provide pastoral support, promoting student well-being and collaborating with the school’s well-being team.
  • Encourage student involvement in extra-curricular activities, cultural events, and language-related projects.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and school improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain a positive departmental and classroom environment with high standards of behaviour and discipline.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and support professional development goals.
  • Engage parents and stakeholders through regular communication about student progress.
  • Stay current with educational advancements and participate in ongoing professional development.
The ideal candidate will have:
  • A relevant degree in Modern Foreign Languages (Spanish and French) or related field, plus a valid teaching qualification.
  • Experience teaching Spanish and French at the secondary level, ideally with knowledge of IB curriculum (IBDP) or other international programmes.
  • Experience in a leadership or departmental management role is highly desirable.
  • Ability to inspire and engage students, fostering a love for languages and culture.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
  • Experience using technology and innovative teaching methods to enhance learning.
