A global technology leader in electrification is seeking a Head of HVDC C&C Civil to manage and lead the Civil team across Europe. This role involves strategic leadership, project execution, and stakeholder management to ensure successful delivery of HVDC projects. The ideal candidate must have a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and extensive experience in large-scale infrastructure projects, particularly within power transmission. The role requires fluent English and offers opportunities for frequent travel across Europe.
Hitachi Energy is seeking a Head of HVDC C&C Civil to manage and lead the Civil team in the European region, to ensure the projects' delivery excellence and technical compliance, as well as the sustainable growth and development of the business in the region.
Please note we are unable to provide visa support (including post study visa). The role will require 40-50% travel UK and European-wide List.
Strategic Leadership & Management - Develop and implement the strategic vision for Civil construction within HVDC C&C Europe, aligning with global business objectives and market demands.
Team Leadership & Development - Lead, mentor, and develop a high‑performing team of Civil construction managers and engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Project Execution & Delivery - Ensure the competence, skills and tools to allow the Civil construction project teams to oversee the planning, execution, and successful delivery of all Civil works for HVDC converter station projects throughout Europe, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Technical Excellence & Compliance - Ensure the implementation of Lessons Learnt and best design practices for construction, through close cooperation with all stakeholders and involvement in Constructability and Design reviews.
Stakeholder Management - Act as the primary point of contact for Civil construction related matters with internal and external stakeholders. Build and maintain strong relationships to facilitate project success.
Risk Management - Support the Civil construction project teams to Identify, assess, and mitigate Civil‑related risks throughout the project lifecycle, including technical, commercial, environmental, and safety risks.
Budget & Resource Management - Manage departmental budgets, resources, and staffing levels effectively to optimize operational efficiency and project profitability.
Tendering &.mongo Bid Support - Ensure resources to provide expert Civil construction input and support during the tendering and bidding phases for new HVDC projects in Europe.
Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering or equivalent
Progressive experience in Civil engineering and/or construction, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership or management role.
Extensive experience with large‑scale infrastructure projects, preferably in the power transmission sector, and an understanding of HVDC converter station civil requirements.
Proven track record of successfully delivering complex civil projects within multi‑national environments.
Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
Results‑Oriented mindset with a proven ability to deliver projects on time and within budget.
Fluent in English (written and spoken) is essential. Proficiency in otherkräft European languages is an advantage.
Willingness and ability to travel frequently across Europe as required for project oversight and stakeholder engagement.
