Thorncliffe Tennis & Pickleball Club is seeking a friendly, motivated and organised Head Coach to lead and develop our growing coaching programme.

This is a self-employed, part-time role, starting at a minimum of 8 hours per week, with scope to grow as the programme develops. The successful coach will step into existing group coaching sessions already in place, with immediate delivery opportunities from week one.

The Head Coach will deliver high-quality coaching for juniors and adults, support beginners and returners into regular play, and help players progress into social and league tennis. There is also opportunity to support pickleball delivery and inclusive tennis provision, including disability tennis and community sessions.

Key responsibilities include delivering group and individual coaching, supporting new members through introductory coaching, providing free match-play coaching for members interested in league tennis, contributing to holiday camps and Parks Tennis sessions, and working closely with the Club Committee and volunteers to grow participation and engagement.

This role would suit a coach who enjoys working in a community environment and wants to make a real impact in a welcoming, inclusive club.

Thorncliffe Tennis & Pickleball Club is a volunteer‑run, community‑focused club based in Sheffield (S35). Founded in 1951, the club has recently undergone a major transformation following significant investment in new courts, upgraded floodlights and improved access. Membership and participation are growing rapidly, with a strong mix of juniors, families, women, older adults and inclusive players. The club delivers social tennis, pickleball, league tennis, junior and adult coaching, Parks Tennis, walking tennis and disability tennis, and prides itself on being one of the most affordable clubs in the area. The club is led by an active and supportive committee and values coaches who share our commitment to inclusion, enjoyment and long‑term participation.
