Job description
Cleo – FinTech Innovator

At Cleo, we’re building a hyper‑intelligent financial advisor that is accessible to everyone. We’re seeking a Paid Marketing Lead to own and scale paid acquisition for our Earned Wage Access product.

Role Overview

In this hands‑on growth marketing role you’ll lead paid marketing across search, social, affiliates, DSPs and emerging channels. You’ll manage a team of channel managers, set the frameworks for testing and optimisation, dive deep into data, and ensure we allocate spend to deliver best possible mCPA, incrementality and long‑term value.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the paid marketing function for the EWA product: leading channel strategy, managing and scaling budgets across Paid Search, Paid Social, Affiliates, DSPs and new/emerging channels.
  • Manage and develop the channel managers team, setting clear goals, frameworks, processes and ensuring high‑quality execution across all channels.
  • Build, optimise and continuously improve frameworks for testing, creative optimisation, budget allocation and working with analytics on attribution, MMM and incrementality testing.
  • Set the weekly/monthly performance rhythm: channel reviews, budget re‑allocation meetings, experiment logs, performance deep‑dives and senior stakeholder updates.
  • Dive into the data: work with SQL/BI tools, cohort analysis to identify opportunities and decide what to prioritise.
  • Break down the full funnel for EWA to identify bottlenecks, ideate/prioritise high‑impact tests, channels or creatives.
  • Ensure the team is hyper‑focused on improving efficiency as we scale: reducing mCPA, increasing incremental value, balancing volume and value.
  • Support with measurement and attribution strategy: knowledge of hold‑outs, experiments, incrementality, SKAN and embed this into team workflows.
  • Create, nurture and embed a culture of best practice: encourage learning, networking, industry trend awareness and new channel ideas.
  • Support long‑term strategy for paid channels: roadmap for channel mix, budget scaling, measurement maturity and creative/asset strategy.
Qualifications & Experience
  • 5+ years’ experience in performance/paid marketing roles, preferably in consumer tech, fintech or subscription business models.
  • Proven experience owning multi‑channel paid marketing (search, social, affiliates, DSPs and emerging channels) and managing multi‑million budgets, ideally eight‑figure scale.
  • Deep knowledge of attribution, incrementality testing, MMM, funnel analysis, cohort/LTV analysis and performance optimisation.
  • Strategic and operational thinking: able to develop channel strategy, budget mix, measurement frameworks and also roll up sleeves for SQL queries, campaign set‑up and detailed analysis.
  • Strong leadership experience: managing teams of channel leads/managers, setting frameworks, driving accountability and building capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills: present complex data/insights to senior leadership and influence budget decisions.
  • Test‑and‑learn mindset: lead experiments, iterate, fail fast and scale what works.
  • Analytical mindset + creative instinct: deep data understanding coupled with creative and channel innovation.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and fast scaling: work in a high‑velocity environment with shifting priorities and help define the playbook.
  • (Optional) Experience in fintech/EWA/financial services and understanding of regulatory/user behaviour constraints.
  • Passion for Cleo’s mission to help people improve financial lives and drive measurable marketing impact.
Benefits
  • Competitive compensation package (base + equity) with bi‑annual reviews aligned to quarterly OKR cycles.
  • Work at a fast‑growing tech startup backed by top VC firms (Balderton & EQT Ventures).
  • Clear progression plan: learn, lead, challenge status quo and own impact with full support.
  • Flexibility and remote work: hybrid in London or distributed outside London with travel support.
Other Benefits
  • Company‑wide performance reviews every 6 months.
  • Generous pay increases for high‑performing team members.
  • Equity top‑ups for promotions.
  • 25 days annual leave + public holidays (+ additional day per year at Cleo, up to 30 days).
  • 6% employer‑matched pension in the UK.
  • Private Medical Insurance via Vitality, dental cover and life assurance.
  • Enhanced parental leave.
  • 1 month paid sabbatical after 4 years at Cleo.
  • Regular socials and activities (online and in‑person).
  • OpenAI subscription covered.
  • Online mental health support via Spill.
  • Workplace nursery scheme.
  • Many more.
