Job description

A reputable mid-market private equity firm is looking to appoint a Financial Controller into a newly created and business critical position.

This is a hands-on leadership role, managing a small team of circa four finance professionals and reporting directly into the Finance Director. You’ll be responsible for the firm’s corporate accounting and financial control activity, taking ownership of monthly group reporting, statutory accounts, audit, and regulatory filings, while also supporting strategic projects as the business continues to scale.

This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys a broad remit and thrives in a high accountability, sleeves rolled up environment. The role offers strong long-term prospects, with exposure across the wider business and involvement in shaping best-in-class finance processes.

Key areas will cover:

  • Lead the monthly consolidated management accounts and board reporting
  • Oversee the preparation of statutory accounts for all group entities and manage the audit process
  • Supervise and develop a team of qualified and part-qualified accountants
  • Manage relationships with local finance contacts across multiple jurisdictions (UK, Europe, US)
  • Ensure accurate and timely FCA and VAT reporting
  • Provide support with group tax analysis and submissions
  • Act as a business partner across compliance, legal, and fund finance
  • Contribute to ongoing process improvement and systems optimisation projects

Our ideal candidate:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent)
  • Circa 6-8 years post-qualified with strong corporate financial control experience
  • Prior experience in private equity or financial services preferred
  • Confident people manager with strong attention to detail
  • Proactive, adaptable and comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment

Comp on offer is around the £100-120k mark with strong bonus potential and wider benefits.
