Job Overview

North Tyneside Council’s Bereavement Service manages seven cemeteries, six closed churchyards and two crematoria. We are recruiting three seasonal grass‑cutting staff to support the grounds maintenance programme.

The positions are full‑time, fixed‑term roles running from March through to November.

Responsibilities
  • Work alongside the grounds crew to cut grass using both pedestrian and ride‑on machinery.
  • Carry out edging, backing up, strimming, weed removal, litter management and fly‑tipping removal across the seven cemeteries and six closed churchyards.
  • Adhere to health and safety risk assessments and operating procedures.
Requirements
  • Positive teamwork approach and solution‑focused attitude.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in all weathers.
  • Previous grounds maintenance experience and horticultural knowledge is advantageous; full training will be provided.
  • Ability to work with mechanical gardening equipment.
