Overview

Graduate Hydrologist role located in the UK (Bristol, Reading, Birmingham, Glasgow) with Jacobs. The position is part of the Jacobs Graduate Development Programme (GDP), a structured two-year scheme designed to support early career development through blended learning, mentoring, progress reviews and networking. The GDP focuses on four areas: human skills, consulting skills, championing Jacobs strategy and personal passions. The programme is largely on-the-job and aims to help you grow into the areas you find most interesting while delivering meaningful projects.

Start date for this role: September 2026.

What you’ll do / Responsibilities
  • Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team delivering projects for clients such as the Environment Agency, SEPA, water companies and major infrastructure providers.
  • Assist with identifying how a water company can meet environmental flow targets, design river restoration schemes, and use modelling software to map flood risk and assess protections for homes from flooding.
  • Contribute to a diverse portfolio of flood risk management and water environment projects within Jacobs’ Water and Environment Business Unit, including river engineering, flood defence structures, natural flood management, habitat creation and related hydrometric gauging facilities and fish passes.
  • Develop through the GDP by collecting learning experiences aligned to your interests and career goals, with support from managers and mentors.
