Description
About CIL

CIL is an international strategy consultancy serving growth clients in markets across the UK, Europe and the US. We help clients to grow their businesses, build value and invest wisely. Most of our engagements involve an M&A element, primarily to advise private equity firms who are looking to invest in high growth businesses. Increasingly, we follow these engagements with strategy work to help investors and management teams make the most of the growth opportunities available to their businesses.

We work across a broad range of sectors, including healthcare, technology, media and financial services. Although we work in structured project teams, we are socially very equal, lively and inclusive. There are no corner offices and no cliques – we work in open‑plan offices and our ‘culture’ is the product of our people.

Our Frome office

Our Frome office is located just 30 minutes from Bath and offers all the benefits of working in a city job whilst enjoying the countryside lifestyle and close‑knit culture of a small office. Just over 40 people currently work out of the Frome office, including the entire finance team.

The role

This role is ideal for someone who is detail‑oriented, confident communicating with internal teams and external stakeholders, and enjoys working in a collaborative environment. You will be joining a friendly, high‑performing team where accuracy, initiative, and problem‑solving skills are highly valued.

The successful candidate will be an integral member of CIL’s finance team, which consists of the CFO, FP&A Manager, UK Finance Manager, International Finance Manager, three Management Accountants, a Finance Apprentice, and a Finance Intern. This role would report into the UK Finance Manager and work closely with the Management Accountants. It is an exciting time for finance as we look to scale our systems and processes to support the business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process supplier invoices: accurately code, verify approvals, and ensure timely processing and payments of invoices across all entities of the group
  • Review employee expenses: enforce expenses policy compliance and ensure accurate coding and timely reimbursements
  • Perform bank reconciliations: reconcile accounts regularly, promptly investigate and resolve discrepancies
  • Manage payment runs: schedule and execute regular supplier and expense payment runs
  • Oversee freelancer payments: manage the end‑to‑end freelancer payment process
  • Administer PO process: take ownership of the PO process within XLedger for Operations teams
  • Support Management Accountants: assist with month‑end close tasks including managing aged POs, processing prepayments, and journal uploads in XLedger
  • Maintain supplier relations: communicate regularly to verify terms, chase invoices, and request statements
  • Proactively resolve issues: identify, investigate, and resolve discrepancies before they escape escalation
Specific skills and requirements
  • 2-3 years’ relevant experience in accounts payable
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

We encourage candidates from all backgrounds to apply. CIL commits to creating and maintaining a culture where every employee feels included and respected; to countering discrimination through our recruitment and training processes and our interaction with other stakeholders; and to celebrating the diverse contributions of all our employees and stakeholders.
