A civil engineering firm is seeking a Geotechnical Field (Materials Testing) Technician in Abingdon, MD. Responsibilities include construction observation and testing of materials such as soil and concrete. Responsibilities include construction observation and testing of soil, concrete, and other materials. The role requires standing for extended durations and repetitive motions such as lifting or hammering. The employee must be able to use their hands to handle, finger, or feel; reach, climb, or balance; crouch, stoop, crawl, kneel and sit; see and smell; including close, distance and peripheral vision, depth vision and ability to focus. The employee will regularly lift and/or move 60 pounds, and occasionally move 80 pounds or more (e.g., a loaded wheelbarrow of concrete or soil samples).

Hourly rate: $18–$20+ per hour, depending on relevant experience. Overtime paid at 1.5 times the hourly rate.
