To assist in the promotion of the ethos of better eating better learning within the school environment.To improve the wellbeing of citizens within the Scottish Borders and making our region a more sustainable and better place to live, work in and to visit.**Responsibilities*** Creating and maintaining a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for pupils.* Preparing and serving meals to pupils and staff following food safety and service standards* Promoting the ethos of Better Eating Better Learning* Working as part of a team to ensure high standards of food hygiene for pupils* Working alongside your team with no supervisory responsibility* Working with your team with no budgetary responsibility**Requirements*** Have an Elementary Food Hygiene Certificate or be willing to achieve it within 6 months* Have experience working in a similar role* Have experience with basic kitchen duties and awareness of how to safely use chemical agents* Be able to maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in dining halls and kitchen* Have knowledge of food portion control and be able to assist with food preparation and heating* Possess customer care skills and be able to maintain confidentiality* Be flexible, able to work unsupervised and as part of a teamFor recruitment additional information pleaseFor information about SBC Benefits please**Equality Opportunity**Scottish Borders Council is committed to improving the diversity of its workforce to better reflect the communities we serve.
