Role

You will work alongside members of the investment team, including Portfolio Managers, to conduct third party fund research across several asset classes and sectors. You will be a key member of the team and will be expected to act quickly with a high degree of autonomy, conducting independent research to determine potential new trade and fund ideas to be included within EQ’s Future Leaders, Sustainable World, Positive Impact and Bespoke mandates.

  • Highly motivated and analytical team player with 5 years+ experience identifying, researching, evaluating, and monitoring funds
  • Passionate about sustainable investment and financial markets in general as well as excellent fund research skills
  • Proactive approach towards driving the research agenda whilst having full ownership for all sectors under coverage
  • Continuous improvement mindset to assist with ongoing evolution of the investment process
  • Interests beyond fund research to include sustainable investment, asset allocation, portfolio construction, and performance & risk
  • Experience covering Investment Trusts, VCTs, Business Relief strategies and Structured products would be beneficial
Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct due diligence on investment products across asset classes and with varying levels of sustainability integration (e.g. ESG, sustainable, and impact).
  • Evaluate fund managers strategies in alignment with EQ sustainability frameworks
  • Support the construction and management of investment portfolios across a variety of structures including MPS, Bespoke and fund of funds
  • Prepare detailed written reports, investment recommendations, and presentations for investment committees and advisors
  • Monitor the performance and sustainability credentials of approved funds, ensuring ongoing suitability and alignment with regulatory requirements
  • Collaborate with stakeholders such as other members of the research team, portfolio managers, clients, and compliance and risk to ensure outcomes are as desired
  • Stay abreast of market trends, evolving regulation, and ESG data innovations in sustainable finance
Experience and Qualifications
  • 5 years plus experience in investment research fund analysis, ideally within a wealth management or asset management environment
  • Strong understanding of responsible investment frameworks (e.g., UN PRI, SFDR, TCFD, SDR)
  • Familiarity with fund structures, performance and risk attribution, and portfolio construction principles
  • Professional qualifications such as CFA, CFA ESG, IMC, or CISI Sustainable Investing Qualification) desirable
  • Excellent analytical skills, including proficiency with Excel, Bloomberg, Morningstar Direct
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • High attention to detail and intellectual curiosity
  • Team-oriented mindset and collaborative working style
  • Passion for sustainability and the evolution of responsible investment.
  • Experience working with ESG data providers (e.g., MSCI, Sustainalytics, Clarity AI, Morningstar ESG)
