Job summary

A leading sports organization seeks a Freelance Swimming Instructor in Glasgow to deliver swim lessons during academic terms. This role involves working with various abilities, ensuring safety, and providing support to Swim-Fit and Accessible Swim programs. Candidates should have relevant certifications and a passion for teaching adults. Flexibility and customer service skills are essential. Interviews will be conducted the week of January 26th.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver swim sessions to a range of abilities within a team.

Freelance Swimming Instructor: Glasgow University

Hourly Rate of Pay:£17-£22.50

Depending on Qualifications and Experience

Location: University of Glasgow Sport Stevenson Building

Hours: Monday 17:30-19:30 & Thursday 17:00-19:00.

Cover for swim lessons is also available, with lessons taking place Monday 16:00-17:30 & Thursday 16:00-17:00

Role Requirements

University of Glasgow Sport are seeking to appoint freelance swimming instructors to support the Swim-Fit, Accessible Swim & Swimming Lesson Programmes.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Work within a team to deliver swim sessions to a range of abilities
  • Ensure a safe learning environment is provided for all participants
  • Act as a positive role model to deliver the best possible experience for members
  • Ensure best practice is maintained following the swimming syllabus
  • Provide excellent customer service to all members within the programme
  • Reporting regularly to the Sport Development Coordinator regarding participant progress and attendance
Required Certification
  • Other qualifications may be considered if they are comparable to the above
  • Personal Accident Insurance, with a minimum of £5 million cover.
  • Membership of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups Scheme (PVG) is required for the post, applicants will be required to pay for their PVG Membership/Scheme checks
  • Experience and knowledge of working with adults in a group swimming environment
  • Motivated and innovative person who is passionate about teaching adults
  • Ability to adapt and have a flexible approach to meet the needs of the service
  • Experience of working with adults with disabilities in a sporting environment
