A prestigious University in the UK is seeking a candidate to lead financial governance within its central Finance function. You will be responsible for managing VAT compliance, providing crucial financial information, and preparing annual financial statements in accordance with regulations. The ideal applicant will demonstrate strong leadership skills and a commitment to professional development. This role will form a key part of the corporate governance for the University’s central Finance function. The role will work closely with colleagues in Finance, the Professional Services and the Schools in managing and maintaining the operation of the financial accounting function including; taxation, audit, compliance, insurance, and financial accounting.
Being a recognised primary provider of analysis, advice and guidance on compliance and other financial matters including, financial regulation compliance, management of financial risk, control account reconciliation, VAT, import & export duties and insurance.
Being responsible for the timely provision of financial information meeting both internal and external deadline requirements and providing returns that meet national guidelines.
Being responsible for the completion of key monthly reconciliations including balance sheet, bank reconciliations, and intercompany reconciliations.
Demonstrating previous experience of VAT management you lead on all VAT matters including submitting returns, compliance with legislation, risk management, and providing advice across the organisation.
Your knowledge of Financial Reporting Standards will allow you to lead on the preparation of the annual financial statements for both the University and its subsidiary company’s financial statements; in accordance with the relevant requirements of the Higher Education SORP, the Companies Act and current Medr guidance.
