Qualifications

  • Part-qualified AAT (or equivalent) or qualified by experience.

  • Confident communicator able to translate financial data into clear, meaningful insight.
  • A collaborative team player.
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Motivated and ambitious, with a desire to progress towards a Finance Business Partner role.

Responsibilities

  • Daily monitoring of cash inflows and outflows to support cashflow forecasting.
  • Preparing daily cash position reports and flagging potential cash shortfalls or surpluses.
  • Supporting monthly comparison of actuals vs budget/forecast.
  • Preparing reconciliations owned by PTG Finance for review and sign‑off.
  • Supporting ad‑hoc analysis and reporting as required.

As a Finance Assistant, you’ll play a critical role in supporting PTG’s financial operations, helping to maintain accurate financial records, ensure compliance with internal procedures, and provide timely, reliable financial information to support informed decision‑making.

Reporting to the Senior Finance Business Partner – PTG, this role offers excellent exposure to both finance and non‑finance stakeholders and is ideal for someone looking to develop their career towards a future Finance Business Partner role.

A key focus of the role is supporting cashflow management, helping to ensure the business maintains visibility, control and availability of cash to meet day‑to‑day and short‑term obligations.

What you'll be doing:

Across all areas, the role provides financial support, analysis and—critically—accuracy.

Cashflow management

  • Daily monitoring of cash inflows and outflows to identify trends and support cashflow forecasting
  • Working with teams across PTG to ensure timely payments and receipts
  • Preparing daily cash position reports and flagging potential cash shortfalls or surpluses early
  • Monthly management accounts
  • Preparing accrual and prepayment schedules
  • Posting journals and supporting timely month‑end close
  • Assisting the Senior Finance Business Partner during month‑end

Variance analysis

  • Supporting monthly comparison of actuals vs budget/forecast
  • Helping identify variances, understand drivers and highlight areas for action
  • Balance sheet reconciliations
  • Producing monthly reconciliation schedules
  • Preparing reconciliations owned by PTG Finance for review and sign‑off
  • Reviewing and storing reconciliations completed by Central Finance
  • Investigating anomalies and ensuring balances are fully supported

Budgeting & forecasting

  • Supporting cost budgets and forecasts for specific P&L lines
  • Working with the Senior Finance Business Partner and Director of Financial Operations
  • Other responsibilities
  • Supporting ad‑hoc analysis and reporting as required
  • Providing financial statistics to the wider business
  • Ensuring awareness and adherence to Health, Safety and Environmental policies
What you’ll need:
  • Part‑qualified AAT (or equivalent) or qualified by experience
