Job summary

A community service organization in Leeds is seeking an Assistive Technology and Equipment Officer to provide high-quality support for individuals with sensory loss. You will conduct assessments and offer practical advice on assistive technologies. The ideal candidate will be experienced in communication across the sensory spectrum and capable of managing their own caseload. This full-time role offers a salary of £25,446 per annum with flexibility in closing dates.

Qualifications

We are seeking an Assistive Technology and Equipment Officer to provide a high‑quality, community‑based service to people who have a sensory loss, e.g. adults and young people aged 16+ who are Sight Impaired, Severely Sight Impaired, and Deafblind.

  • Working within the community or in individuals’ homes providing a person‑centred service
  • To conduct strengths‑based assessments, support plans and risk assessments with service users, including and where appropriate their carers and family members
  • Providing practical and impartial information and advice on technical equipment, and being able to demonstrate and issue appropriate equipment for people who are hard of hearing
  • Enabling individuals to familiarise themselves with relevant products to access digital services such as email and the internet

We are looking for individuals who are:

  • Able to communicate effectively with all people across the sensory spectrum
  • Able to undertake assessments and manage their own case load
  • Experienced in using databases
  • Knowledgeable and keep up to date with assistive technology useful to sensory‑impaired people
  • Flexible and prepared to travel around the Leeds area
  • Able to work independently, using initiative, be well‑organised, manage conflicting demands on time and respond to deadlines
