Job summary

A leading railway company in Newcastle upon Tyne is looking for an individual to join their Environment team. In this role, you will manage and enhance the Energy and Environmental Management System (EEMS) while ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. Key responsibilities include conducting environmental audits, maintaining compliance programs, and collaborating with stakeholders. Ideal candidates will possess a recognised environmental management qualification and have experience with ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 standards, driving sustainability initiatives within the railway operations.

Do you have a strong passion for environmental conservation? Do you thrive on ensuring regulatory compliance and driving continuous improvement? LNER is seeking a dedicated individual to support our Environment team in advancing our sustainability initiatives.

As a key player in our Safety & Environment team, you'll actively manage and enhance LNER's Energy and Environmental Management System (EEMS). Your attention to detail will be crucial as you monitor legislation, develop compliance programs, and conduct environmental audits.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Maintaining and improving LNER's EEMS
  • Developing and monitoring internal controls for legal and EEMS compliance
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to implement compliance activities.
  • Managing external audits and certifications.
  • Providing training on regulations and best practices.
  • Monitoring progress and reporting to stakeholders.

To excel in this role, you'll need:

  • A recognised environmental management qualification or be happy to work towards one.
  • Experience with ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 management systems.
  • Knowledge of energy and environmental legislation.
  • Understanding of compliance requirements such as SECR and ESOS.
  • Experience in environmental audit and stakeholder engagement.
