Overview

Engineering Geologists and Geotechnical Engineers - UK Wide - Hybrid at Amentum

We are growing our Ground Engineering capabilities within the UK and are recruiting Engineering Geologists and Geotechnical Engineers at a range of experience levels, including Senior and Chartered professionals. The role supports Amentum’s worldwide workload across Defence, Nuclear Power, Environment and Government-Owned Critical Infrastructure industries. Flexible working arrangements are available with a mix of office-based and home working; Bristol is the preferred base, with other offices considered.

Responsibilities
  • Manage ground risk by delivering geotechnical assessment, analysis, design and construction supervision for diverse projects across the UK and internationally.
  • Conduct Preliminary Source, Feasibility, value engineering, innovation and sustainability studies.
  • Perform land and overwater ground investigations including advanced in situ and laboratory testing and data management.
  • Characterise, parametricize and model soil and rock; conduct numerical and finite element analyses of geotechnical problems, including seismic and dynamic analyses.
  • Design and specification of geotechnical works for innovative and sustainable structures (foundations, retaining structures, earthworks, ground improvement, ground anchors, soil nails, rock bolts, etc.).
  • Provide technical construction assurance and ensure quality of deliverables.
What You’ll Need
  • UK nationality; sole UK National; willing to obtain SC level security clearance; resident in the UK for the preceding 5 years.
  • Experience or exposure to a range of the following: engineering geology, soil mechanics and rock mechanics; geotechnical desk studies, field mapping and geomorphological assessment; ground investigation design, specification, supervision, assessment and data management; 2D/3D ground modelling and characterisation.
  • Routine geotechnical analysis, design and technical reporting for foundations, retaining structures, earthworks, landslip, excavations, ground treatment, reinforcement and ground anchors.
  • Technical software such as OpenGround, Leapfrog, GEO5 Suite, RocScience, WellCad, AutoCAD, ArcGIS, MathCAD (beneficial).
  • Degree in Engineering Geology, Geology, Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering or equivalent.
