Engineer at Barratt Redrow


Barratt Redrow is a nationally recognised 5‑star housebuilder, committed to high‑quality homes and innovative design. The Design and Technical teams are involved in all aspects of housing design and innovation, researching the best materials at the best cost. This role will support the design of infrastructure and groundwork’s packages for residential developments.


What You'll Be Doing


  • Procure services records and enquiries for new developments, ensuring timely payment for new services infrastructure.

  • Oversee design and detailing carried out by externally appointed Consulting Engineers for all external works including foundation solutions, new estate roads, sewers, and relevant agreements.

  • Secure adoption agreements (S38, S104, S278) promptly, ensuring compliance and timely completion.

  • Contribute to structural design of superstructure components.

  • Maintain continuous evaluation and peer review of consultants' designs to meet best practice in value engineering and statutory compliance.

  • Liaise with Technical Team members and other stakeholders to discharge building regulations and planning conditions.


What You'll Need


  • HNC/HND level in an engineering related discipline with at least 5 years post‑qualification experience.

  • Previous experience in a design environment, preferably with Civil or Structural Consulting Engineers.

  • Ability to negotiate confidently with external bodies, including sewerage undertakers and highway authorities.

  • Co‑ordination skills to work with all members of the design team and deliver programmes.

  • Computer literacy, experience of design software such as Autodesk product set; PDS or Mircodrainage experience desirable.
