A leading construction company in the UK is seeking an EM&I Technician to join their Engineering Maintenance team. This hands-on role involves repairing and refurbishing water treatment equipment, diagnosing faults, and maintaining high service standards. The ideal candidate will hold relevant mechanical qualifications and have a practical approach with a willingness to take on responsibilities. Have you completed mechanical or dual-skilled apprenticeship, or do you have a formal qualification? Do you enjoy a practical, hands‑on role which involves maintaining, identifying the root cause of failure of our equipment and providing engineering solutions to enable a timely and cost‑effective repair within the whole of the Wessex Water Region?
Would you like to complete full and part refurbishment of complex electrical & mechanical equipment using your skills to re‑engineer where possible? If so, we have a great opportunity for you to join our workshop as an EM&I Technician.
Joining our friendly and supportive Engineering Maintenance team, you will help repair and refurbish the equipment from our water treatment works to maintain the highest standards for our customers.
This is a hands‑on role that will see you carrying out refurbishment and repair work in our asset servicing workshop. This will include diagnosing faults and carrying out repairs on our critical assets. You will also assist in making local decisions and suggest improvements to a poorly performing plant.
You will take full ownership of jobs through to successful resolution and completion.
You will have the opportunity to learn and further develop your mechanical skills and knowledge. Within the business area, there is the opportunity to develop skills.
This is a mobile role that could require you to work across the Region as and when required to cover shortfalls and holidays etc. working Monday to Friday with overtime available, and a 24/7 on‑call rota after training.
You will enjoy a hands‑on role repairing a wide range of water treatment equipment.
You will need to have:
Any previous experience working in the water industry in an EM&I role or workshop repairs is desirable but not essential.
