Electrical Senior Authorised Person - Europe - 144837

Location: Various Project Sites – Europe
Reports to: Senior Authorised Person / Control Engineer

Job Description

As a Senior Authorised Person (SAP), you will hold responsibility for achieving safety from the system for work on electrical networks. You will be authorised to prepare, issue, and cancel Safety Documents, carry out switching, and take equipment in and out of service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out switching operations on systems within your level of authorisation.
  • Apply isolations and safety precautions in accordance with written procedures.
  • Prepare, issue, and cancel Safety Documents (e.g. LVPTW, LOA, HVPTW, SFT) where authorised.
  • Write Switching Schedules.
  • Supervise Competent Persons and working parties during electrical work.
  • Conduct “Prove Dead” procedures before commencement of work.
  • Ensure clear demarcation and identification of work areas.
  • Liaise with the Control Engineer for release and restoration of systems.
  • Escalate hazards or defects to the Control Engineer.
  • Lead switching operations, including HV and LV isolations and earthing.
  • Confirm readiness of systems for energisation and handover.
  • Supervise and mentor APs and CPs under your control.
  • Coordinate with Control Engineers and Testing Teams during commissioning.
  • Conduct energisation readiness reviews and sign off on Power on Requests.
  • Conduct routine audits and toolbox talks to promote compliance.
  • Maintain accurate logs, records, and control documentation.
  • Support the Authorising Engineer in assessing and mentoring new candidates.
Requirements
  • Extensive experience in HV and LV electrical networks.
  • Written appointment as a SAP by the Authorising Engineer.
  • In-depth knowledge of switching schedules, isolation protocols, and safety rules.
  • Familiarity with operational safety documentation and standards (e.g. EN 50110-1).
  • Proven supervisory and leadership capabilities.
  • Recognised qualifications in electrical engineering or equivalent experience.
