A performance apparel brand in the UK is looking for a Sock & Apparel Designer to lead the design and innovation of socks and clothing. The role requires creativity, technical skills, and a passion for outdoor performance apparel. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design, at least three years of relevant experience, and proficiency in Adobe tools. We’re seeking a Sock & Apparel Designer who will bring creativity, technical understanding, and a passion for performance design to our growing product range. This role will be pivotal in driving Le Bent’s toe-to-head design evolution, balancing functional innovation with the understated, modern aesthetic our brand is known for.
Based in a light and bright office on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, Le Bent is a family-friendly workplace with the opportunity for you to grow as the business grows.
Role is part time – 3 days per week.
a. Research global trends, market insights, colour palettes and competitor activity in performance, outdoor, and lifestyle apparel.
b. Stay informed about industry trends, market dynamics and competitor offerings, leveraging insights to into design decisions and maintain competitive edge.
a. Develop and present seasonal design concepts across socks and apparel, reflecting Le Bent’s brand DNA and commitment to comfort, performance, and sustainability.
b. Create and present seasonal mood boards, range direction, colour palettes, and fabric stories aligning with product strategy and consumer insights.
c. Partner with the product manager to develop grow/maintain/decline direction at a category level based of sales, trend and innovation.
d. Ensure a cohesive design language that integrates across categories & collection — from socks to base layers to accessories aligned to pricing and margin targets.
a. Design technical and lifestyle socks and apparel using Adobe Illustrator and related tools.
b. Create and maintain detailed tech packs including sketches and CADs, artwork, construction details, yarn or fabric specifications, and trims.
c. Develop and maintain comprehensive trim and branding packages ensuring consistency across categories and alignment with brand standards.
d. Incorporate thoughtful features and materials that elevate comfort, performance, and versatility.
a. Research emerging yarns and sustainable material technologies suited to outdoor and active use to ensure a continuous pipeline of innovation.
b. Develop and test new knit structures to improve the performance and comfort of socks and apparel.
a. Partner with Product Manager & Product Developer to review prototypes and fit samples.
b. Attend fittings and provide design feedback to achieve intended fit, feel, and performance.
c. Ensure visual consistency and cohesive storytelling across apparel, socks, and accessories.
