Job summary

A community academy in Maldon is seeking a part-time Learning Support Assistant (Personal Care) to support SEND students' progress and wellbeing in accordance with the National Curriculum. The ideal candidate will have qualifications in Maths and English at GCSE level and will be enthusiastic and hardworking. This permanent role offers a salary of £16,103 pro rata, with hours during term time only, from Monday to Friday. Interested candidates should apply by the closing date of noon on 23 February 2026.

Overview

Learning Support Assistant (Personal Care) – Plume, Maldon's Community Academy. This part‑time role is permanent and starts immediately. The post is in a strong SEND department with a good Ofsted status.

Responsibilities
  • Support the progress, learning, achievement and wellbeing of SEND students in line with the National Curriculum, codes of practice and academy policies and procedures.
  • Work in accordance with the Learning Support Assistant (Personal Care) job description.
Person Specification / Qualifications
  • Qualifications in Maths and English at minimum C grade GCSE or equivalent Level 2 qualification.
  • Desirable: TA qualification, child care qualification or Level 3 qualifications/A levels, or other relevant qualifications.
  • Hardworking, enthusiastic and able to focus on teaching, learning and personal development of students (Year 7 to 13).
Remuneration and Working Time
  • Hours: 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 3:10pm, term time only.
  • Salary: Local Government Pay Scale; pro rata details apply. The advertised part of the salary is £16,103 (pro rata) including holiday pay, with actual offer dependent on point level and any allowances.
