A personal assistance service in Hastings seeks a compassionate individual to provide care and support to a male client with Cerebral Palsy. Responsibilities include personal care, preparing meals, transporting to appointments, and managing administrative tasks. Candidates must have a clean driving license and own vehicle, good communication skills, and basic IT knowledge. This role offers £12.21 per hour with potential for increased hours. A DBS check is required and applications are welcome from those with the right to work in the UK.
Sunday shift - 7:30am - 10am. Potential for more regular hours in the future. Bank hours may include early mornings or late evenings as well as occasional overnight. You may cover annual leave or sickness.
£12.21 per hour / £18 Bank Holiday rate. Mileage rate: will be paid, to be discussed at interview.
I am a 33-year-old male with Cerebral Palsy. I am wheelchair dependent. I live in Hastings, East Sussex with my family. I require a personal assistant/carer to assist with all aspects of day-to-day living such as personal care and accessing the community. I am looking for someone who is reliable with a good sense of humour, has discretion and a caring attitude. I value a friendly yet professional atmosphere.
My passions are fitness and swimming. I enjoy socialising with my family and friends. I like the cinema and love comedy and action movies. I really like to get out in the warm weather and to go out in my electric wheelchair. I am open-minded to new interests and hobbies.
I am a practical person and like to plan and fill my time. I am busy with my part-time job and volunteering.
A clean driving licence, with access to a vehicle is required. I have use of my own vehicle which you may be required to drive. The main duties will include assisting with personal care (such as showering, toileting), food preparation, accompanying me to appointments, taking me to work, shopping, social events and some light housework.
I will require someone who can also deal with admin work such as respond and compose letters, deal with emails and keep my filing system in order. Basic IT skills are essential and a good level of literacy.
Three-month probation period is given for the role.

If you are successful in your application for this position, you will be either engaged directly or employed by the individual employer and not by Independent Lives. The role may be offered on an employed or self-employed basis, depending on the suitability and agreement with the employer. If the role is employed, you will be entitled to holiday pay and issued an employment contract.
