A leading NHS foundation trust is searching for a Paediatric & Adult Clinical Respiratory Technician (Band 5). This permanent role offers full-time or part-time hours and the opportunity to work flexibly. Key responsibilities include conducting respiratory assessments, interpreting diagnostic tests, and supporting the education of new team members. We have an opportunity for an experienced Registered Nurse or Physiologist to join our friendly team in our new CDC department (Community, Diagnostic Centre).
The role will include planning and undertaking a range of simple, specialist and complex diagnostic respiratory assessments with a considerable degree of responsibility and autonomy as outlined below performed in accordance with ARTP or ERS/ATS criteria where applicable, in both paediatric and adult patients.
The candidate must have previous experience performing Spirometry test. Previous experience with paediatrics is not essential as training will be provided.
The successful candidate will be able to analyse, interpret a large range of diagnostic tests. To maintain up to date clinical knowledge. To obtain accurate and informative results. To be responsible for own professional development and professional registration. To demonstrate care and respect, for both patients and fellow staff members.
Providing cross cover as and when required to the other hospital sites. Facilitate students and others to develop their competence through supervision, teaching and role modelling. Assist in setting department objectives in line with the Unit, Corporate and national objectives. Responsibility for ensuring that safe systems of work are practised in the Lung function & sleep department and that all Health and Safety legislation, other relevant legislation and Trust policies are adhered to. Responsibility for undertaking risk assessments and reporting all significant problems and identified hazards to the Respiratory speciality management group meetings. To communicate and negotiate with staff at all levels, within the Trust (medical, nursing, technical and administrative colleagues, Consultant medical staff and senior management) and external stakeholders as required. Undertake all audit and governance roles within lung function services. To maintain databases and records and to produce timely and relevant statistical reports on workload. Active participation in the MDTs or Respiratory meetings. To ensure that all information is recorded appropriately on the necessary clinical systems. To ensure all statistical and activity data including coded is accurately recorded.

Perform the procedures listed as an independent practitioner, gaining accurate and clinically valuable measurements. To provide high quality clinical reports, interpretation, recommendations and outcomes in the following diagnostic tests.
• Measurement of static lung volumes by whole body plethysmography
• Reversibility testing
• Gas transfer measurements
• FeNO measurements
• 6 minute walk test
• Respiratory muscle strength assessment
• Blood gas analysis via capillary blood gas
• Support the CPET clinic at Worthing Hospital once a week.
▪ Export and analyse all data required for the appropriate interpretation
▪ Construct appropriate reports dependent on reason for the test
▪ Provide a physiological interpretation on the reports
▪ Troubleshoot areas of concern with regards to equipment and staff to ensure an efficient service
▪ Any other tests as deemed necessary by the Site Lead.
