Job Overview:

The Log Cabin Charity seeks a dedicated and dynamic Part-Time Fundraising Manager to join our team. Reporting directly to the Head of Service, you will play a pivotal role in driving our charity’s mission forward, by implementing effective fundraising strategies and helping to create a better future for children and young people with additional needs. You will be responsible for generating vital income from a variety of sources, including trusts and foundations, corporate partners, legacy donors, community fundraising, and individual giving. The role involves managing donor relations and organising/coordinating fundraising events in order to support the charity’s fundraising targets and develop digital fundraising channels.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and Execute Fundraising Strategies:

• Create and implement comprehensive fundraising plans to meet financial goals.
• Identify and cultivate potential donors and funding sources.

Donor Relations and Stewardship:

• Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential donors.
• Manage donor communications, including thank-you letters, newsletters, and updates on the impact of donations.

Event Planning and Management:

• Organise and oversee fundraising events, including logistics, volunteer coordination, and post-event follow-up.
• Ensure events run smoothly and achieve financial targets.

Grant Writing and Management:

• Research and identify grant opportunities.
• Write and submit grant proposals to secure funding from foundations and other grant-making organisations.
• Monitor grant compliance and reporting requirements.

Database Management:

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of donors and contributions.
• Utilise fundraising software to track and analyse donor data.
• Monitor and control the fundraising budget.
• Conduct risk analysis and balance time-cost ratios to focus effort on the fundraising activities that are most appropriate and will have the highest chances of success.

Marketing and Communications:

• Develop and implement marketing strategies to promote fundraising initiatives.
• Collaborate with the management team to create fundraising materials, including brochures, social media content, and press releases.
• Develop and maintain excellent relationships with community groups and individuals.
• Develop and implement digital fundraising programmes including email marketing, CRM database, website campaigns, online donations, regular giving, peer-to-peer fundraising, social media, events fundraising, lottery, and other online fundraising opportunities.
• Liaise with third-party agencies such as website developers and designers to optimise fundraising tools and platforms.
• Select and manage a third-party donations service to handle debit and credit card donations.
• Other fundraising duties that may be appropriate.

Person Specification:

Education:

• A qualification in nonprofit management, business, marketing, or a related field is preferred.
• Preferably a member of the Institute of Fundraising.

Experience:

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in fundraising role, donor relations, or a related field.
• Proven track record of successful fundraising and meeting financial targets.
• Experience of working with children preferred, although not essential.

Skills:

• Strong organisational and project management skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in fundraising software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with donors, volunteers, and community stakeholders.
• Ability to work and thrive under pressure.
• Good time management.

Other Criteria:

• Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends required to attend events and donor meetings.
• Flexibility to travel for meetings, events, and donor visits.
