Overview

Job purpose: Would you like to earn as you learn? Our client has a number of Out of School Care provisions across the Baillieston area and they are looking for motivated and enthusiastic people to join their friendly team. This would be an excellent opportunity to work for a committed employer who will pay you a competitive salary and support you in your training and beyond. You will undertake an apprenticeship in childcare to complete the SVQ3 in Social Services (Children and Young People) at SCQF level 7; on completion you will become a qualified childcare practitioner. Hours will be 16 hours per week (including shifts from 2.45 to 5.45, Monday to Friday, 15 hours) plus 1 hour paid for planning activities and online training courses. The apprenticeship salary ranges from £8 to £11.44 per hour depending on experience.

Responsibilities
  • A part-time position in an after school setting where you will learn and train how to deliver effective care and learning
  • Full training programme learning from the employer and training provider
  • Work as part of a team
  • Develop care and pedagogical skills to support each individual child’s care and learning needs
  • Design and deliver learning experiences to develop each child
  • Support the workings of the childcare setting
  • Develop knowledge of theory and child development
  • Understand the theory and practice around Getting It Right For Every Child
  • Develop knowledge of frameworks related to early learning and childcare
Qualifications and requirements
  • Two satisfactory references required
  • PVG and SSSC registration
  • Enthusiastic and committed to delivering high quality childcare
  • No prior professional childcare experience required; must show a passion for working with children
Training and progression

You will be supported and guided through the qualification with regular meetings with your allocated SVQ assessor and completing written work. The qualification will be delivered by Tinies Glasgow Training Centre (SQA accredited).
