Job summary

A leading children's rights organization is seeking a Senior Policy Adviser to lead advocacy efforts on the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC). This role requires strong negotiation and relationship-building skills, advising senior stakeholders to ensure children’s rights are prioritized. The position is a Fixed Term Contract for parental leave cover until March 2027, based in Greater London. Candidates must demonstrate a clear commitment to children's rights and possess in-depth knowledge of the UNCRC.

Overview

This is an exciting opportunity to join The UK Committee for UNICEF (UNICEF UK) as Senior Policy Adviser leading our work on the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC), reporting to the Head of UK Policy and working closely with colleagues in London and our office in Edinburgh.

Responsibilities
  • Lead our foundational advocacy work to embed the UN CRC across the four nations of the UK and Crown dependencies.
  • Within the Advocacy Department, ensure that child rights are embedded in UNICEF UK’s work and play a critical role in our influencing work.
  • Advise, negotiate with and build relationships with senior stakeholders across governments, public sector and civil society, grounded in in-depth knowledge of the UNCRC and its status in legislation and policy.
Qualifications and requirements
  • Demonstrable experience of advising, negotiating with and building relationships with senior stakeholders across governments, public sector and civil society.
  • In-depth knowledge of the UNCRC and its status in legislation and policy.
  • Commitment to children and their rights and motivation to work towards a world that is fit for every child.
