Job description
Overview

We’re the Moonpig Group – home to Moonpig, Greetz, Red Letter Days and Buyagift – and we’re on a mission to make people feel loved, celebrated and remembered. Whether it’s a card that gets them laughing out loud or a gift that makes their day, we help people stay close, no matter the miles.

We’re proud to be leading the online gifting revolution, with brilliant products, clever tech and a whole lot of heart. Our platform makes it easy to create moments that matter – packed with personal touches and delivered with care.

We’re not just about selling cards or gifts – we’re here to spread joy, spark smiles and make every celebration feel extra special. And with values that guide how we work and support one another, we’ve built a place where people (and ideas) can truly thrive.

If you’re looking to make an impact, bring your spark and be part of something meaningful – we’d love to have you on the team. 🌙🐷

As a Head of Product Design, you’ll play a critical role in shaping high-quality, emotionally resonant digital experiences across our responsive web platform and native mobile apps. You’ll coach others to raise the bar for design craft and user experience across our digital ecosystem, ensuring customer journeys are intuitive, efficient, delightful, and aligned to both user needs and business goals.

You’ll lead design across Frequency, taking ownership of one of our most critical business areas - building the “Moonpig habit” and increasing how often customers choose us throughout the year. This is a 12-month maternity cover, offering the opportunity to make a real impact during a pivotal period.

Working closely with Product, Engineering, CRM, Brand and senior leaders across the business, you’ll operate with a high degree of autonomy, influencing strategy, ways of working and how our brand shows up across key customer journeys. Your work will directly help millions of customers celebrate more moments that matter.

We’re looking to move fast, so candidates will need to be available to start from mid April - early May at the latest.

Key Responsibilities
  • Define and communicate the Frequency design strategy across Plus, Reminders, App and Editor.
  • Translate company goals into clear design principles and direction that guide teams.
  • Inspire cross-tribe collaboration and elevate design quality across end-to-end journeys.
  • Act as a core member of the Product & Design leadership team, aligning with senior product and engineering stakeholders.
  • Shape roadmaps, resolve trade-offs and ensure Frequency strategy integrates into the wider product direction.
  • Represent design in strategic forums and influence senior decision-making.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders across the business to deepen understanding of customer and commercial needs.
  • Lead, coach and develop designers across multiple domains, including areas outside your own historical expertise.
  • Build a culture of autonomy, creativity, psychological safety and high performance.
  • Strengthen design rituals, standards and review practices across Frequency.
  • Develop senior ICs and emerging leaders through tailored, inclusive coaching.
  • Oversee delivery of high-impact, cross-tribe initiatives that drive frequency and retention.
  • Improve planning, governance and systems to enable fast, consistent execution.
  • Connect user insight and design strategy to measurable business outcomes.
  • Shape OKRs and prioritisation models that demonstrate design’s commercial impact.
  • Maintain a high bar for design craft, consistency and innovation.
  • Bring external inspiration, industry benchmarks and thoughtful experimentation, including the use of AI where it adds value.
About you
  • Proven experience leading Product Designers in a fast-paced, tech-led environment.
  • Experience as a Head of Product Design, owning design strategy for a complex product area.
  • Comfortable balancing strategic leadership with hands-on craft, staying close to execution.
  • Strong people leader with experience coaching senior ICs.
  • Able to co-create and unlock long-term design vision across multiple teams and disciplines.
  • Deeply user-centred, with a passion for embedding customer insight into design decisions.
  • An excellent communicator who can clearly articulate design rationale and influence senior stakeholders.
  • Solid understanding of how products are built across web and native apps.
  • AI-literate, with experience using AI tools for ideation, production or optimisation.
  • Confident working with design systems, Figma and modern design tooling.
  • Experience in loyalty, retention or frequency-based products is highly valuable.
Recruitment Process
  • 30 minute recruiter call
  • 30-minute call with a Design Leader
  • 60-minute case study interview or white board session
  • 60-minute workshop or whiteboard session with the Design Team
  • Final fit interview with VP Product
