Job summary

A leading technology company in the United Kingdom seeks a Senior Core Network Engineer to lead the design and expansion of their Packet Core. The role requires a minimum of 3 years of hands-on engineering or architectural experience, preferably within a Major Network Equipment Provider (NEP) or MVNO/MVNE. Responsibilities include managing ASN and BGP peering, and defining HSS/UDM profiles for efficient data management.

Qualifications

Senior Core Network Engineer

Responsible for leading the design and expansion of our Packet Core.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of hands‑on engineering or architectural experience in one of the following environments:
• Major Network Equipment Provider (NEP)
• MVNO / MVNE
• None of the above

Primary responsibility for high‑level design (HLD) or low‑level design (LLD) in one or more of the following areas:

• DNS Hierarchy: Designing S‑NAPTR records for MME/SGSN node discovery (PGW/SGW/UPF).
• IP Strategy: Managing ASN (Autonomous System Numbers) and BGP peering for internet/roaming connectivity.
• Subscriber Mapping: Defining HSS/UDM profiles, including QoS, AMBR, and APN subscriptions.
• Capacity Planning: Dimensioning EPC/5GC nodes to handle specific data growth projections.
• Roaming Architecture: Designing IPX/GRX connectivity and bi‑lateral roaming agreements.
