Qualifications

  • Certified as a Surgical Technologist is required.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and reading skills in English.
  • Must be within 30 minutes of hospital for on-call rotation.

Shift: Days, some evenings, weekends & rotating calls

WHAT YOU CAN DO FOR FCMC

Our Surgical Technologist is a vital position that is responsible for assisting surgeons and nursing in preparation and performance of surgical procedures and processing/furnishing sterile and non-sterile supplies, equipment for the service and care of the patients. More specifically, other duties include:

  • Performs delegated scrub duties for the surgical team including table set up, instrumentation, first assisting, and counting of instruments prior to and after an operation.
  • Handling of instruments, sponges, sutures, drains, dressings, specimens, and records.
  • Ensure asepsis and safety.
  • Assist the Operating Room Registered Nurse in providing patient care pre-operatively, intra-operatively, and immediately post-operatively.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Certified as a Surgical Technologist.
  • (OR) Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the State of Idaho with one year of surgical technologist experience.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and reading skills in English.
  • Must understand sterile technique and adhere to patient safety.
  • Must work effectively with a team.
  • Be within 30 minutes of hospital when on-call rotation.
Essential Job Functions
  • Regular and predictable attendance is required.
  • Regularly required to stand for long periods of time; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or twist.
  • Frequently required to perform moderate to complex manipulative tasks.
  • Frequently able to move, push, pull, lift, or carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and peripheral vision.
  • Must comply with HIPAA and patient privacy.
  • Must wear PPE when situations require.
  • Must submit to COVID-19 testing as required by CMS and other regulatory agencies according to FCMC policy.
Work Environment
  • FCMC operates 24 hours per day each day of the year; operational needs of departments may require that you be available to work all shifts, weekends, and holidays to meet the needs of the patients.
  • Potential exposure to blood, body tissue and fluids, contagious diseases, and hazardous waste.
  • Occasional exposure to bodily injury, loud or unpleasant noise, unpleasant odor, and emotional or physical stress.
  • May be required to work day or night in a confined environment or variation of different temperatures.
