Job Description
About the Role
We’re looking for a highly skilledWarehouse and Operationsteam. As the guardian of RG Jones’ world-class equipment inventory, you’ll ensure that our systems — across Pro Audio, Event Production, and Installations — are maintained, prepped, and continually updated to meet the demands of the UK’s most iconic venues, festivals, and heritage sites.
This role is hands‑on, solutions‑led, and central to operational excellence. You’ll combine technical expertise with strong organisational skills to keep every piece of equipment working to RG Jones standards — perfectly.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain an expert understanding of all technical equipment in stock (e.g.ient, Martin Audio MLA/WPL, Dante, FlexPoint).
- Track equipment lifecycle: recommend upgrades, manage obsolescence, and advise on investment strategy.
- Liaise with department heads to align technical inventory with upcoming projects and future workload.
Maintenance & Service Scheduling
- Implement a scheduled maintenance programme: cleaning, firmware updates, PAT testing, diagnostics.
- Manage repairs in‑house or through approved third‑party servicing to minimise downtime.
- Maintain detailed.
Quality Control & Preflight Readiness
- Ensure all equipment leaving the warehouse is tested, correctly configured, and show‑ready.
- Create and maintain testing protocols for high‑use items (consoles, RF systems, speaker systems).
- Support prep and de‑prep flows in coordination with the Warehouse team.
Technical Documentation & Standards
- Maintain and update system schematics, rack layouts, patch plans, and operational instructions.
- Set and uphold technical standards across all departments — neat cabling, safe rigging, signal clarity, and best‑practice system design.
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure all equipment complies with regulations for electrical safety, rigging, RF licensing, and lifting.
- Stay up to date with H&S legislation relevant to AV and live events.
Technical Training & Support
- Deliver hands‑on training for staff and freelancers: console operation, Dante patching, RF best practice, rigging safety.
- Act as a point of escalation for technical issues during project prep or post‑show reporting.
- Stay informed on emerging technologies and advise on integration (immersive audio, IP‑based systems, etc.).
- Collaborate with the Installations team on systems design and post‑install support.
- Support the Marketing team with technical insights for training content or behind‑the‑scenes material when appropriate.
Skills & Experience
- 5+ years’ experience in live event AV, system engineering, or equipment prep roles
- Deep knowledge of professional audio systems (line arrays, digital consoles, RF coordination, networked audio)
- Skilled in diagnostics, signal flow, patching, and fault resolution
- Familiarity with inventory management tools an advantage
- Strong communicator: able to brief teams, elevate issues, and document processes clearly
- Organised, methodical, and deadline‑driven
- Able to lift and handle equipment safely; ideally PAT qualified or trained in rigging safety
Why This Role Matters
From Glastonbury to St Paul’s Cathedral, Henley to the House of Lords — our clients expect technical perfection. You’re the person who ensures that every cable, mic, and amp lives up to the RG Jones reputation. If it leaves this building, it works — flawlessly.
