What the role involves

As a Senior Microservices Engineer you will contribute to the design, development and maintenance of scalable and resilient microservices-based applications within the CIO Technology Engineering team. You will work closely with the Principal Engineer, Group Architecture and cross‑functional scrum teams to deliver high-quality solutions aligned with business and technical requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain microservices-based applications using Java.
• Implement microservices using best practice defined by our Community of Practice to ensure consistency, reusability and maintainability.
• Actively participate in code reviews, technical design discussions and contribute to continuous improvement of engineering standards.
• Mentor junior engineers, support the adoption of modern engineering practices and help identify and resolve technical issues early.
• Contribute to the creation and tracking of team‑level KPIs and support the Principal Engineer in driving strategic initiatives.

Skills and experience

• Extensive hands‑on experience developing Java based microservices in production environments, with the technical depth expected of a senior‑level engineer.
• Strong experience working in agile teams with a solid understanding of iterative delivery and stakeholder collaboration.
• Proven ability to influence technical decisions, contribute to process improvements and support the company’s engineering vision.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers, supporting their growth and onboarding into agile delivery teams.
