A leading veterinary practice in the East Midlands is seeking a Theatre Technician to join their team. This role is crucial for ensuring smooth theatre operations, handling patient care, and maintaining sterility in surgical environments. Ideal candidates will have a GCSE in Maths and English, and skills in attention to detail, animal care, and proficiency in software. The role of Theatre Technician is vital to the smooth running of our theatres.There are many numerous responsibilities that can change at a moment’s notice, so we are seeking a positive and proactive person who enjoys the challenge of identifying a task required and fixing it before any of the clinical team knew it needed to be addressed.
Attention to detail is a much-required skill as our theatre technicians will review forms for the planned procedures and ensure all equipment is available prior to surgery. There will be an element of patient movement around the hospital plus, where needed, clipping and preparation of the patient. We have many procures to ensure that the theatres and all the equipment in them meet our stringent levels of sterility, so a large part of the role will involve removal of instruments and cleaning down between any procedure. Our theatre assistants also open the kits and equipment for our surgeons while maintaining a sterile environment.
The working hours are Monday to Friday with a working week of 40 hours. Shifts are between 7:00am-9:00pm.
Previous experience of working in a theatre would be an asset but not essential as if you have a professional can-do approach, we can train you for the specific responsibilities.

Working within a group of skilled and passionate nurses, we are seeking a Theatre Technician to provide the support and organisation needed to ensure the best possible care for our patients, and, that their time in theatre is at an optimum.
We regularly work closely with specialist referral clinicians from a range of disciplines such as surgery, medicine, ophthalmology and neurology. On a day-to-day basis, we interact fully with the anaesthetists, providing anaesthesia and sedation for other services. Despite working within such a big team, we succeed in maintaining a friendly and supportive ethic. We are passionate about providing a gold standard of care.
