Personal Assistants (Support Workers) have the most important role within Enable by making a positive difference every day to the lives of the people we support. No two days are the same for our Personal Assistants but you will be supporting someone with a learning disability to achieve their goals and outcomes – whatever they may be!

Responsibilities

• Assist with various aspects of personal care, moving and handling or positive behavioural support as needed.
• Support individuals to expand their social networks and connections while ensuring safety and wellbeing.
• Collaborate with the Enable team to create a bespoke support plan around each person we support.

About Ben

Let us introduce you to Ben. Ben lives in his own home and receives support with most aspects of daily living. He is very active, enjoys nature walks, splashes in puddles, trampolining, going to the gym and cycling. He is non-verbal and relies on visual aids to communicate his needs and wishes.

A typical day could include supporting Ben with personal tasks at home, maintaining his house and garden, going for walks in the countryside, or going for a leisurely drive. Ben values structure and routine and benefits from a calm team that shares similar activities and a good sense of humour. He also spends time with his close-knit family.

Requirements / Qualifications

• You do not need prior care experience to start a social care career with Enable; we recruit based on values and transferable skills.
• Understanding of Autism can be beneficial as Ben is non-verbal and relies on visual communication.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a supportive team to achieve goals and outcomes for the people we support.
