Job summary

A healthcare provider in Edinburgh is looking for a qualified Counsellor or CBT therapist to join their Family Support Team, providing psychological therapies to patients with life-limiting illness and facilitating bereavement support groups. The contract is fixed-term for 18 months starting 1 April 2026, with a competitive salary and a shift pattern from 09:00 to 17:00. Candidates must have excellent communication skills and be able to work within a multidisciplinary team.

We are looking for a compassionate, motivated and organised counsellor or CBT therapist to join our Family Support Team on a fixed term basis, starting 1 April 2026.

Working with other counsellors and as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will provide psychological therapies to patients with life-limiting illness and their adult family members and will be involved in facilitating bereavement support groups.

You will be a registered, qualified and experienced counsellor or CBT therapist, accredited by BACP or BABCP or eligible for accreditation. You will provide sessions both in person and remotely by telephone or NHS Nearme. With excellent communication skills and demonstrated self-awareness, maturity and sensitivity, you will be able to work well within a multidisciplinary team, with colleagues, and with volunteers.
