A university technical college in Reading seeks an enthusiastic Assistant Principal to support students in achieving their best outcomes. The role focuses on behaviour and attitudes while providing leadership within a growing STEM education environment. Applicants should demonstrate a passion for education and experience teaching GCSE, A level, or BTEC courses in STEM subjects. You will be part of a dedicated team that aims to transform lives through learning while promoting a collaborative approach with industry partners.
We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic Assistant Principal to join our University Technical College (UTC).
The UTC opened in September 2013 in facilities that support the specialism of computer science and engineering. UTC Reading is rated “Good” in all areas by Ofsted inspection in February 2025. You can read the report here: https://www.utcreading.co.uk/key-information/ofsted-reports/
Students at UTC Reading specialise in either Engineering or Computer Science; at 14 they will also study a broad and balanced curriculum and at Post 16 the curriculum becomes more specialist with various A levels in STEM subjects. In addition, students can study a specialist BTEC Level 3 course in Engineering or IT to extended diploma. At capacity, we will be educating 500 students who will all have a passion for Science, Technology Engineering or Mathematics; it is a truly inspirational environment.
The Assistant Principal will join an established Senior Leadership Team to take UTC Reading onto the next phase of its journey. The candidate should show clear passion for supporting young people to achieve their best possible outcomes, no matter their starting points – a belief in transforming lives through learning.
The role focuses mainly on behaviour and attitudes and other responsibilities of the role can be discussed with the successful candidate dependent on their experience and skills. The senior leadership team is excited about the next growth phase of UTC Reading and is excited to welcome a new member to the team to support with this development and bringing the vision of the school to life.
We teach GCSE, A level and BTEC courses across STEM subjects, so preference will be given to candidates who teach within these subject areas.
