A leading engineering firm is seeking an experienced Instrument Technician for installation and testing in Campbeltown and Runcorn. Overview

Job Title: Instrument Technician (LTD Company)

Location: Campbeltown (On-site) & Runcorn (Off-site) – Accommodation provided for site works

Contract

Rate: £30-£35 per hour (DOE)

Start Date: Monday 9th February

Technical Partners are seeking an experienced Instrument Technician to support the installation, testing, and commissioning of level and pressure instrumentation as part of an LNG facility upgrade project. The scope includes both off-site fabrication in Runcorn and on-site installation and tie-ins in Campbeltown, working to defined procedures and testing standards.

Scope of Works

The project includes the installation and support of:

  • Static head level measurement and ullage area pressure monitoring systems for four LNG vessels (8 instruments)
  • Six pressure transmitters installed around the site
  • Total of 14 instruments, including impulse lines and pressure testing
Key Responsibilities

Site Survey (Supported by HTS Engineering)

  • Conduct site surveys and produce red-line drawings / sketches to reflect site conditions
  • Identify and confirm required modifications for installation
  • Confirm Materials of Construction (MOC) and material quantities
  • Define mounting, support, and installation requirements

Off-Site Works (Runcorn)

  • Pre-fabrication of instrument pipework
  • Mounting and installation of instruments
  • Installation of small bore stainless steel piping
  • Pneumatic strength testing to approximately 15 bar
  • Leak testing
  • Working in accordance with approved procedures and testing methods

On-Site Works (Campbeltown)

  • Installation of instruments up to tie-in points
  • Site fabrication of brackets and mounting systems (e.g. Unistrut, backboards)
  • On-site leak testing
  • Tie-in to existing systems using new valve arrangements
  • Support during gas holder switch operations and SOV replacement works
Working Patterns & Hours
Travel & Shift Patterns
  • On-shift travel:
    • 3.5 hours paid travel
    • Site hours approx. 08:30/09:00-18:00
    • 12.5 hours paid (0.5-hour unpaid break)
  • On-site works:
    • 07:30-18:00
    • 10 hours paid (0.5-hour unpaid break)
  • Off-shift travel:
    • 3.5 hours paid travel
    • 07:30-16:30
    • 12.5 hours paid (0.5-hour unpaid break)
Expenses & Allowances
  • £30 – £35ph LTD
  • Accommodation provided by HTS
  • Mileage paid at £0.22 per mile
  • Meal allowance: £30 per night
Indicative Schedule
  • Start date: Monday 9th or Tuesday 10th
  • Initial 4-day site survey (Mon-Thu, approx. 45 hrs)
Planned rotations
  • WC 16th Feb – Off-site (Runcorn), Mon-Fri (55 hrs)
  • WC 23rd Feb – Off/On-site, Mon-Thu (45 hrs)
  • WC 2nd March – Off/On-site, Mon-Fri (55 hrs)
  • WC 9th March – On-site, Mon-Thu (45 hrs)
Requirements
  • Proven experience in instrumentation installation and small bore tubing
  • Experience with pressure and leak testing
  • Ability to work to procedures and technical drawings
  • LTD company set up with relevant insurances
  • Willingness to travel and work between Campbeltown and Runcorn
