A leading NHS trust in Greater London is seeking a Band 7 Psychologist / MBT Therapist to join their team. The role involves collaboration with service users and professionals, offering evidence-based treatment for complex emotional needs. Candidates must be registered with a relevant professional body and have substantial experience in mental health. Main area Mental Health. Grade NHS AfC: Band 7. Contract: Permanent. The Band 6 Trainee MBT Therapist post requires the successful applicant to undertake a funded programme of accredited training in an evidence-based therapy for people with complex emotional needs associated with a diagnosis of ‘personality disorder’ (MBT) and maintain satisfactory progress to continue in this role. Upon successful completion of accredited training within a two-year period, the post will be banded as Band 7 MBT Therapist.

The Bedfordshire and Luton Complex Needs Service is excited to advertise for a Band 7 Psychologist / MBT Therapist to join our developing MBT team that enables us to offer a choice of evidence-based treatment for people with complex emotional needs (associated with a diagnosis of ‘personality disorder’).
The successful candidates will work collaboratively with service users, carers, and colleagues to create a psychologically safe environment that enables the delivery of effective treatment. They will actively participate in weekly team consultation/peer supervision meetings, offer specialist advice, supervision, training, and consultation to other professionals and teams to support effective and efficient psychologically-informed care across Bedfordshire and Luton. We welcome interest from candidates committed to co-producing the development of the care pathway through participation in clinical research, audit and/or quality improvement projects.
This post will be based within ELFT's Bedfordshire and Luton Complex Needs Service. The multi-disciplinary team includes: a Medical Psychotherapist, Clinical Psychologists, Psychological Therapists, a Lived Experience KUF Development Lead, a Clinical Associate in Psychology, a Peer Support Worker, and an Assistant Psychologist. The team operates as a hub, reaching community mental health services in Bedford, Central Bedfordshire and Luton to provide specialist advice, training, consultation and supervision. The team also offers assessments and evidence-based interventions to a caseload of service users with complex emotional needs and self-harm/suicidal behaviour.
Flexible working arrangements are supported, including part‑time, job share or other flexible patterns where feasible.
The Trust offers up to £10,000 for removal and associated expenses under the relocation scheme (subject to change and terms and conditions apply).
