A leading telecommunications company in the UK is looking for an engineer to support Subsea Cable Systems, ensuring fault rectification, safety, and operational effectiveness. The role involves hands-on engineering tasks in extreme marine environments, focusing on installation, maintenance, and safety management of submarine cables. Candidates should have a solid understanding of subsea technology and experience in related fields. This position offers a challenging yet rewarding opportunity to contribute to critical infrastructure.
Key Purpose of the role BT relies on submarine cables to form the backbone of the global transmission network delivering services and products to BT’s multinational corporate customers. Over 99% of the worlds digital traffic is carried across submarine cables. BT has the largest UK domestic submarine cable footprint, carrying services such as broadband and mobile backhaul, meeting UK consumer and business customers expectations. This role will help to ensure that the BT Subsea Cable systems and everything associated with them meet the requirements of BT and external customers. The role holder will be a trusted engineer, capable of undertaking detailed and complex fault finding and rectification of Subsea faults as well as maintaining the Health and Safety of others as part of their day-to-day duties. The responsibility for the Security, Safety and Operation of the site they are working at falls on them, daily.
