Qualifications

• Significant experience in General Surgery at Registrar level with competence levels reflective of an ST8 trainee.
• Log book evidence of current professional development.
• Laparoscopic experience.
• Experience of training and teaching surgical trainees.
• Knowledge of Bariatric surgery.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the delivery of the Upper GI service at ST7+ level.
• Provide advice and support to patients and hospital staff.
• Promote junior doctor learning and participate in audit and teaching.

Skills

Good interpersonal skills

Ability to communicate effectively with patients and staff

Laparoscopic skills and experience

Evidence of bedside teaching

Ability to run training courses

Ability to develop and progress a research project and audit

Education

FRCS or equivalent
