Development Subsidence Consultant

As a Development Subsidence Consultant based within the field team, you’ll play a vital role in managing buildings insurance claims at properties where signs of subsidence have been reported to our clients.

Responsibilities
  • Complete a full training programme covering building construction, defect diagnosis, insurance principals, and policy liability matters.
  • Diagnose damage through site visits or virtual visits/desktop assessments, supported by appointed mentors.
  • Prepare reports for clients related to property damage and insurance matters.
  • Direct investigations to confirm causation of damage and necessary repairs.
  • Receive support from internal claims handlers overseeing day‑to‑day claim management.
  • Obtain Chartered membership of an appropriate institution (CIOB or RICS) and insurance qualifications from Cert CII/CILA to ACII/ACILA.
Qualifications
  • A relevant construction qualification such as Building Surveying, Construction Management, Structural Engineering (degree level preferred).
  • Demonstrable experience within the insurance industry is also considered.
  • A desire to learn about construction and insurance.
  • Commitment to progress professionally up to Chartered status.
  • A decisive, ‘can do’ approach.
  • Computer literate with most Microsoft packages.
  • Full UK driving licence.
